The foundation of Transportation Planning rests on a comprehensive understanding of Traffic Engineering decision-making. Lawhon & Associates, Inc. (L&A) employs a licensed Traffic Engineer with a Professional Traffic Operation Engineer (PTOE) certification to support our Transportation Planners. Our capabilities include Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) for commercial and residential land development, Safety Studies of high crash locations, infrastructure recommendations for School Travel Plans/Safe Routes to School (STP/SRTS), and Interchange Justification/Modification Studies (IJS/IMS). We maintain pre-qualifications with the Ohio Department of Transportation for a number of traffic design and study specialties, including Basic Signal Design, Non-Complex Roadway Design, Safety Studies, and Interchange Justification/Modification Studies, which allows us prepare traffic analysis in-house for environmental documents while also supporting our clients’ transportation planning and design staff.  We also work closely with state, county and municipal engineers to provide planning-related traffic engineering advice.
