OHIO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD
A firing range was previously located within Kettering Armory. The range was closed in 1991. Following a recent roof replacement project, concerns were raised as to whether lead-containing dust remained on upper surfaces following closure activities. Lawhon was tasked with conducting a lead contamination assessment of the armory. It was determined that lead remained on building components in the former range and maintenance shop at concentrations that exceeded OANG limits. L&A partnered with an Ohio licensed lead contractor to complete the required lead dust remediation/cleaning. L&A provided third party oversight of all remediation and was responsible for classifying hazardous waste slated for disposal and collecting air and surface samples to ensure cleaning activities effectively removed the lead hazard. L&A is currently under contract to provide similar services at twenty one additional OANG armories across the State.
