AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER
American Electric Power (AEP) purchased the town of Cheshire, Ohio as a result of operations at the neighboring Gavin Generating Power Plant. L&A was contracted to perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) of more than 70 properties slated for acquisition. Included in this effort were reviews of National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), the Ohio Historical Inventory, and the Ohio Archeological Inventory to determine if the any of the properties were located on any such list. Recommendations to address such concerns as abandoned septic systems and water wells, former gasoline stations and asbestos-containing materials were developed for consideration by AEP. L&A also assisted the client in developing remedial action plans to address underground storage tanks (USTs) located at two gasoline stations. L&A continues to provide ESA-related services on an as-needed basis as properties become available for purchase.
