In conjunction with their overall strategic facility plan, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is in the process of developing site-specific master plans for each of the fifteen Ohio State Parks that offer nightly and weekly rental cottages. L&A, as a member of the design team for the Statewide Cottage Renovation Project, completed hazardous building materials surveys of 298 cabins located at eight parks. To meet schedule and budget constraints, Lawhon consulted with, and gained approval from, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to group each construction type at each state park together as a single homogenous building unit, therefore reducing the amount of samples required and the amount of time necessary for field work. All survey and reporting assignments were completed within five weeks of notice to proceed.
