TOWER 10 LLC
The LeVeque Tower is a 47-story Columbus landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The facility is currently under renovation to restore the art deco façade and revitalize interior spaces. Lawhon was contracted by the building owner to complete an asbestos survey of the hotel floors, residence floors, office floors and mechanical space to locate asbestos-containing materials (ACM) that may be impacted by the proposed renovation projects. We also completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment to identify any recognized environmental conditions that may need to be addressed as part of the project.Because the building would remain occupied, L&A completed the asbestos inspection during late afternoon and evening hours to minimize disturbance to normal operations. Separate reports were prepared for each of the four projects planned, with ACM types, locations and quantities detailed by floor. All field and reporting activities were completed in less than 30 days and in accordance with National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) standards. L&A provided technical support to the construction manager as bids are solicited from abatement contractors. We are currently assisting with material quantification during abatement and performing clearance inspections and sampling as ACM is removed.
