SOUTH BEND AIRPORT CE
South Bend International Airport expanded a terminal apron to correct insufficient slopes and to reconstruct and realign Taxiway B to meet Federal Aviation Administration separation criteria. Because the project required federal approval for a change to the Airport Layout Plan, the improvements were required to comply with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations. L&A conducted a Phase I Archaeological Survey to meet National Historic Preservation Act requirements, including a literature review and field visit to identify both | above-ground and potential below-ground resources. Ecological resource specialists completed a Jurisdictional Waters and Isolated Wetlands Delineation Report documenting that no wetlands or other water resources would be impacted. L&A staff completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) to identify potential hazardous materials in areas of potential disturbance within the airport property. The results of these studies supported a Categorical Exclusion determination by the Federal Aviation Administration. |
