As
a result of a tire fire covering approximately 19 acres, a potentially
large amount of oil was produced. The oil caused environmental concerns
at the site, including potential impact to soil and ground water, and
polluted stormwater runoff. L&A was contracted by the Ohio EPA to
provide services to identify areas where the oil collected and implement
a plan to contain and treat the contaminated stormwater runoff. They
would also perform a Phase II investigation to identify and delineate
soil and ground water contamination. A retention and treatment pond was
constructed along with construction of a drainage system from the site
to that pond. Water was then processed through a treatment system designed,
built and operated by L&A. Permits allowing discharge into a nearby
stream were permitted under an Ohio EPA permit obtained by L&A for
the project. Erosion Control and Site Work was completed on approximately
15 acres of the site.
