Lawhon
can help you achieve NAEYC accreditation for early childhood learning
centers
Because children learn best in clean, healthy environments
The National Associate for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
accreditation represents the mark of quality in early childhood
education. NAEYC Standard 9 is the accreditation gold standard for safe,
healthy learning environments. The criteria for NAEYC Standard
9.D, Environmental Health, covers numerous aspects of the physical
environment within early childhood learning centers and specifies that
there must be documentary evidence that "the building has been assessed
for lead, radon, radiation, asbestos, fiberglass or any other friable
material"; and, that the learning program "has taken remedial or
containment action to prevent exposure if warranted by the assessment".
In addition to these conditions specified by NAEYC standard, there are
many other building-related conditions that can have potentially serious
adverse effects on the health of children and staff in early childhood
learning centers. For example - molds, allergens, biological
agents such as Legionella, and chemical exposures from consumer
products, mercury, and petroleum are frequently a health concern.
