Removing
or addressing hazardous materials from historically significant surfaces
requires special attention. We are aware of the issues associated with
these structures and conduct environmental surveys and prepare specifications
accordingly to remove asbestos and materials containing lead.
Whether we are a part of a construction/design/
management team or are providing
independent consulting services, we can advise you when multiple phasing
can be done in historical structures to facilitate “fast track” construction
schedules.
Before starting work it is worthwhile, if not required, to have historic structures evaluated to determine if they are on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), or if they are eligible. If you are going to rehabilitate a historic building, you may be eligible for a Rehabilitation Investment Tax Credit. We can help with the NRHP eligibility and obtaining the Tax Credit.
